Afrikaans First Additional Language Teacher

Pretoria Boys High School has a vacancy for a fulltime, permanent Afrikaans First Additional Language Teacher.  (School Governing Body position with effect from 31 March 2020 or earlier by mutual agreement)

Minimum Qualifications and Experience for all positions:

  • Appropriate teaching qualifications are essential. Candidates must have a minimum qualification of either a four year B Ed degree or a suitable degree and a PGCE.
  • Valid registration with SACE is essential.
  • Previous teaching experience is highly recommended.
  • Candidate should be able to teach all Grades from 8 to 12.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching, assessment, planning and preparation for all classes
  • Tutor (Register) teacher responsibilities
  • Must be involved in the extra-mural programme
  • Will be responsible to fulfil all other reasonable duties required of a teacher

Geography Teacher

Pretoria Boys High School has a vacancy for a fulltime, permanent Senior Geography Teacher.  (School Governing Body position with effect from 31 March 2020)

Minimum Qualifications and Experience for all positions:

  • Appropriate teaching qualifications are essential. Candidates must have a minimum qualification of a suitable degree at least at 2nd year level with Geography, a PGCE or a BSC degree.
  • Valid registration with SACE is essential.
  • Previous teaching experience is highly recommended.
  • Candidates must be able to teach in English.
  • Candidates must be able to teach FET, Grades 10 to 12.

Grounds Machinery Operator

 

Pretoria Boys High School has a vacancy for a Grounds Machinery operator (School Governing Body post: two (2) full-time permanent positions start date 1 February 2020 depending on availability)

Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Grade 10
Valid code 8 drivers licence
Experience Requirements:
5 + years of related experience

Role and Responsibilities
The role that the successful candidate will fill will be predominantly that of a brush-cutter operator. He will however from time to time be required to operate a tractor either with a trailer for moving material or other tractor drawn equipment for mowing, fertilizing or the application of pesticides to the fields
The candidate must have experience in the following skills to fill this position;

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR GROUND MACHINERY OPERATOR
 Able and willing to carry out any lawful and reasonable instruction from his Line Manager
 Able to carry out pre start checks on machinery
 Identify and report problems on machinery
 Understand safe working procedures
 Able to follow written instructions with regards to the application of pesticides

Other Responsibilities include but is not limited to:
1. General Estate work during the Winter months or when cutting is limited
2. Your Line Manager is entitled to, at his discretion, instruct you with additional responsibilities, which falls within the boundaries of your job description, or in accordance with operational requirements.
