For generations, music has been at the heart of Pretoria Boys High School, and now, this treasured tradition has been given a new chapter with the unveiling of our newly upgraded Music Studio.
As part of their 40-year reunion celebrations in 2025, the 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟱 raised funds to give back to their school. Earlier this year, they identified the Recording Studio upgrade as their project of choice, with the initiative spearheaded by 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗠𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶’𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀. The upgrade was completed in August, marking the culmination of a wonderful project driven by a lasting connection to Boys High.
Guests at the intimate gathering were treated to a special performance by the PBHS Guitar Quartet, under the direction of Mr Gersteling. The performance was also recorded in the upgraded studio, providing a first-hand demonstration of its new capabilities.
𝗔 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟱 for choosing to invest in the future of Music at Boys High.
Projects such as this are a wonderful reminder that the strength of our school community extends far beyond the classroom.
The generosity, commitment and enduring passion of our Old Boys continue to enrich the school and ensure that its heritage is carried forward for generations to come.
Mr McCoy currently runs a Music Technology interest group for boys in the Music Department, giving them the opportunity to develop practical studio skills while working on a range of projects. The upgraded facility will support the recording of the school’s many outstanding music ensembles and soloists, while also providing a valuable resource for audio and video projects across the school.
